Buddhism For Education of Cambodia was founded by a group of volunteer Buddhist Monks with five founder members on 25th March 2012 and officially registered by the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia through an informed certificate No.884, dated on 4th July 2012; with its permanent address #630, Kammakor village, Svaypor commune, Battambang town, Battambang province. This organization was founded aiming at the goals as follow:
Vision
-Buddhism for Education of Cambodia will commit to meet all sorts of Buddhist Educational field are promoted and Cambodian people, youths, children, aged people, who are down-and-out, are provided help from society and Buddhism with no discrimination; no exploitation; warm harmony; adequate occasion for living, attending school; and people follow human rights and constitutional law.
Mission
-Supporting Buddhist Educational field.
-Teaching Buddhist morality and human rights to children, youths and people in general.
-Providing aged people with dependable support and vulnerable children who are incapable with both Buddhist and national education equally as well.
-Teaching people in general to comply with the law, obey human right, afford money and time, conserve their own civilizations, cultures and customs.
-Preventing mistreatment, discrimination, illegal trafficking, violence, drug abuse and participating in reduction of people’s poverty.
Goal
-Teaching all classes of Khmer people to live in society with moral codes of conduct, peace, development, dignity, harmony both bodily and mental.
In order to be transparent, Buddhism for Education of Cambodia is taking effort in conducting the duties as the regulation submitted to the Ministry of Interior. Moreover, this organization has made a strategic plan for conducting its own duties with society both in Buddhist and national education in accordance with what are clearly shown from the need of society without individual discrimination.
Buddhist Educational Field
The First Five Year Strategic Plan of BEC
1- Choosing main teachers in provinces, districts to strengthen knowledge abilities, real skills to Pali (scripture) teachers, Vinaya (discipline) teachers, and Dhamma (dharma) teachers.
2-Increasing the numbers of skilled teachers and providing extra wages for the teachers.
3-Reaching any monasteries with Pali and Dnamma-Vinaya schools are being opened in the aim of strengthening teachers’ knowledge abilities, monks’ abilities in managing the monasteries, Buddhist knowledge schools; and cooperating with Buddhist monks and monastery committees for help in supporting and promoting Buddhist study.
4-Sending student monks to get extra study to have real knowledge of Pali, Sanskrit, and Vinaya and so on.
5-Composing new and good study texts, creating new study programs and searching for various documents both from inside and outside the country for the study of teachers and students.
6-Creating Buddhism-related writing competition programs and competition of reciting Pali grammar, groups of Buddhist doctrine, Bikkhu (fully ordained Buddhist monk) rules of conduct; as well as creating a yearly program of having young girls and boys ordained a novice and a nun.
7-Building Buddhist libraries in various districts and provinces.
National Educational Field
The First Five Year Strategic Plan of BEC
1-Running Buddhist Sunday School in order to teach and preach morality and rules of conduct to children, youths, prisoners, and Buddhist lay people in general in the purpose of promoting and preserving cultures and customs in Khmer society; and teaching computer, foreign languages, the art of coordination, communication skill, administration affair, the art of public speaking, text-composing method and poetry composition.
2-Supporting the life of aged people, youths and children who are unable to support themselves and providing them with appropriate Buddhist and national education.
3-Composing concise and good texts relating to education.
4-Creating Buddhism-related writing competition programs and creating a yearly program of having young girls and boys ordained a novice and a nun.
5-Building Buddhist libraries in various districts and provinces.
